On the low contrast resolution assurance of Computed tomogaphy, research on the optimization method of mixture solution making

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose : To standardize and optimize the way to make solution for low contrast resolution module of AAPM phantom in performing quality assurance of CT
Materials and methods : 2 MDCT scanners of Siemens(SOMATOM Definit ion AS+) and 2MDCT scanners of GE(Light Speed VCT) were used in this study. AAPM phantom(Nuclear Associates LTD. Carle Place, NewYork) was scanned as Korean Institute for Accreditation of Medical Imaging suggests. We Quantitively evaluated the change of HU value in the holes and background of low contrast resolution module by adding 1 cc of 2 different concentrations of contrast agent
Results : Adding Ultravist 300 by 1 cc, increase value of HU was measured as 7.2 HU in SOMATOM Definition AS+, and 8.1 HU in Light Speed VCT on average. Adding Ultravist370 by 1 cc, increase value of HU was measured as 8.4 HU in SOMATOM definition AS+ and 9.46 HU in Light Speed VCT on average.
Conclusion : As 1 cc of contrast media is added to solution, HU value increases at relatively constant rate in all scanners. Therefore, the method tried in this study which uses background HU value is considered useful to perform quality assurance of CT.
